    A different take on 'George':

The medal engraver was Georges Giraud (French, but close enough)

If "Georges" is our theme, I'll use that as an excuse to post my favorite George, and one of my favorite coins, period. It's one of the top five (and maybe top three) out of the coins in my primary "Eclectic Box" collection.

For a brief, shining moment, it was the finest graded at either of the major TPGs, but has since been upstaged by a single, unseen leviathan which shows up as a PR68 DCAM (!) in the PCGS pop reports. So mine is now pop. 1 with 1 higher.

@yarm- would you be the owner of that monster, by any chance?

Continue playing "Georges", or if you prefer, make "Seated Britannias" the new theme.

Here’s a combination of both themes! Also here’s a George VI crown, one of my early ones. 595E930E-D644-4782-93C9-21CD8BCD60C1.jpeg 9F26A721-71A2-48B7-BEFF-67DD84A9A95A.jpeg

Here is a George IIII farthing with seated Britannia on the reverse, with her pet lion along side. 1821 GB farthing obv.JPG 1821 GB farthing rev.JPG

How about a standing Britannia? 1907 GB florin obv.JPG 1907 GB florin rev.JPG

Definitely. I had specified "seated" mostly to steer us away from modern Britannia bullion coins, but in retrospect, why? Those are lovely too.

Post your Britannias, seated or standing, earlier or modern.

Britannia standing on a rather large medal, ~60mm if IIRC (one of my earlier photo attempts...need to reshoot this one!)

and on the other end of the spectrum, Britannia seated on a mere farthing (also could do with a photo improvement, and a less scuffed slab):

How about expanding to include other national allegories (Lady Liberty, Marianne, etc).

I've always liked Queen Anne's coins and medals.

Ok lets try a new theme... German States

I will start with a 1860 Frankfurt Thaler.
