I was in high school at the time and participated in the JROTC program. When we were issued our uniforms,  our MSgt gave us challenge coins and a tidbit of history. Until my uncle produced his,  I only thought it was a military thing. Didn't know other civil service jobs had their own participated in challenging. Game. Set. Match. I pulled out my wallet and produced my own. All he said after that was "You sly dog! Do you want a glass of milk or a juice box??" I snagged his to take a picture, as I thought the design was quite beautiful. A year later,  he gave me a couple he had duplicates of.
