    Wait, I just remembered- one day my detecting mentor had permission to hunt at an old plantation south of here, which had a rare surviving 18th century house on the site. He invited me to go along, but I was sick that day and didn’t go.

    He dug a Fine details 1794 Liberty Cap half cent. It was quite nice for a dug one. A bit porous, sure, but not too heavily corroded. I was even sicker when I heard what he found, and the potential goodies I missed out on.

    Earlier, when I said I hadn’t heard of any half cents being dug, I mostly had the Braided Hair ones in mind.
