Nice Merc!! Now I really, really, really love that 1919 Lincoln. Let me know when you're tired of it.
robec, thanks for the digging my toned cents. This is a ms 65 BN pop 3/2 at NGC and was in my registry until I found that 66BN. You know full well they don't give the high grades to Brown coins unless they are fantastic. The problem is that this particular coin is murder to image so I can't properly sell it. I can take pretty decent pictures of coins I think, but this one just needs to be viewed in person. Or placed in the hands of a more advanced photographer like yourself that can capture the really tough ones.
I can sure see the underlying toning/color on the 65BN coin. Trying to bring the color out in those are fun. Sometimes in comes out by accident. I love working with the Browns. This isn't a BN, but it's not a Red either. It is in an NGC holder and graded MS67*. Not my coin, but is my image. I think a grade of 67 was a gift, but it is quite a monster in the toning department. The detail around the beard and ear just doesn't seem to be there for a lofty grade of 67.
robec, I've seen that coin in hand offered for sale. You did an excellent job imaging it! It was offered at 5000 dollars. I might have paid 1000 but I wasn't even in the room at that point. I always wondered what it finally sold for. my guess is someone ponied 3 g's for it. I'm content just knowing that coin exists in the world. Thanks for sharing. On a side note, I think your images are some of the best. You are able to capture the "wet " look of mint luster. Lots of decent coin photography shows detail great but have what I call a "dry" look. Way to go man, Matt
That is an interesting coin you posted there. Is that a 1915- VDB? Ah! You caught it while I was posting.
Here is another one to keep it going. 65 BN. Nice proof shots robec. Looks like we have the same exact tastes in Lincolns rlm.
