It was purchased nearly 40 years ago from a reputable dealer who remains in business. So if it is counterfeit he would make good on it. But I seriously doubt it is anything other than an xf-au large cent. Maybe you see my less-than-professional photography skills and mistaken that for counterfeit.

Great to know, I wouldn't usually voice my opinion but being a key if it had been an eBay buy or something I figured I'd mention it. Glad to hear it came from a legit shop. Edit- after looking at slabbed examples of these I see similarities in the strike in the denticles and the "OF" on the reverse, on at least the N-4 variety... hadn't noticed them like this before on genuine coins and that's what was throwing me off. Glad I was wrong. Back to our regularly scheduled programming.
