I wanted to upload the Mexico City Mints 5 ounce silver panda medal, but couldn't figure it out. It's on photobucket
Just the kind of thread I think I've been looking for... I'll start with my latest Mexican coin acquisition, sorry about the NGC grippers showing:
Here are a couple more... These two have been around. Lots of characters rubbing lots of character into them.
I love the worn down and gritty old Mexican coins. They just have a feeling for the gritty, harsh reality of the old days and surviving through so many changing times in that country's history. Here's my 'Cabalitto' with some colorful tone. It's in an old white ANACS holder:
Almost as common as dirt, but I enjoy the "Juegos" 1968 Mexico Olympics coins. Here's a fun little array of them, along with a wee 1937 50 Centavos piece for perspective on scale:
These are common as restrikes, but not so as actual struck for circulation examples like this one: Somewhere in all my images I have a jpg of a gold medal struck on a blank for the 50 peso coin - and if I can find the image I will post it. It was another Mexican bought at melt item like the above.
