1844 8 realies minted in Guanajuato.

I'll start with my latest Mexican coin acquisition, sorry about the NGC grippers showing:

 

Here are a couple more... These two have been around. Lots of characters rubbing lots of character into them.

 

This one looks like someone started to drill out and decided to carry for a while.

 

I love the worn down and gritty old Mexican coins. They just have a feeling for the gritty, harsh reality of the old days and surviving through so many changing times in that country's history.

I really like the design of these with the cap sort of floating over the ancient pyramid:

 

Almost as common as dirt, but I enjoy the "Juegos" 1968 Mexico Olympics coins.
Here's a fun little array of them, along with a wee 1937 50 Centavos piece for perspective on scale:

 

These are common as restrikes, but not so as actual struck for circulation examples like this one:



Somewhere in all my images I have a jpg of a gold medal struck on a blank for the 50 peso coin - and if I can find the image I will post it. It was another Mexican bought at melt item like the above.

 

Got no gold.
