I don’t have a favorite based on patina, really, but this Norman gold tari has the original earthen deposits retained- I sent it off to PCGS that way. And if you look carefully enough, you can see there's still a tiny piece of Sicily adhering to the coin, in the form of a whitish micro-pebble (perhaps a grain of quartzite), beneath the right crossbar of the cross.

Sicily (Norman Kings): gold tari of Guglielmo I ("William the Bad"), ca. 1154-1166
    [IMG]
Obverse: Kufic legend in two margins around pellet in circle.
Reverse: Cross-tipped scepter with IC XC NIKA around field.
Issuer: William I, King of Sicily (1154-1166).
    Specifications: Gold, 13 mm, 1.56 g.
Grade: PCGS VF35, cert. #36461152. Purchased raw. Original earthen deposits retained.
Reference: PCGS-690703, Spahr-82 (per Nomos AG), Fr.634 Guglielmo I (per PCGS).
    Provenance: ex-Nomos AG, Switzerland, Obolos 10 auction, Lot 603, 30 June 2018. *

Next: let's have more earthen patina.

I've always had a soft spot for patinas that lean to green-blue and pure blue.

The ancient Chinese were masters of intricate and artistic bronze work. This coin shows off a beautiful bluish-green bronze patina:

A pretty much worn Claudius from a lot of 5 coins for 65 CAD (each would be 13 CAD) at AMCC3 auction (2021). Even so worn, I like it :)
