    IONIA, Phokaia. Circa 521-478 BC. AR Tetartemorion. Head of griffin left / Incuse punch. Cf. SNG Kayhan 514–6 (hemidrachms) and 1428 (diobol). It is possible that this issue may belong to Abdera or Teos, both of which also issued early silver coins with griffins on the obverse.

    I have several coins from the city of Uncertain in Asia Minor - like this:

    Silver Obol (?)
    Obv.: Head left
    Rev.: Uncertain object within incuse square
    Wt./Size/Axis: 0.60g / - / -
    Acquisition: Agoracoins eBay
    Notes: May 11, 10 - I believe this is from Asia Minor, possibly Mytilene (Lesbos), but will gratefully listen to any ideas.

    I've got this coin that was sold as unidentified and remains as such to this day. I haven't been able to locate the coin in my collection to weigh/measure it but it is pretty sizeable, maybe 25-30mm wide. My best guess is that it is some princely state from India or maybe Afghanistan/Pakistan region and maybe 1600-1850 AD period. I haven't been able to identify it despite my best efforts, however, so that is definitely an unsure attribution.

    AE Chalkous 11mm/1.8gr..
    Obverse- Bust left with short beard, wearing diadem and spiral torque; hair in three distinct waves with earring visible; diadem pendants shown as three lines; circular border of pellets.
    Reverse- Monogram ΜΤΘ; legend as dashes
    Mint- Mithradatkart-Near modern Askabad in Turkmenistan.
    Ref- Sellwood 64 type variant (ΜΤΘ monogram) This is quite a rare type
