Caius Cassius, money triumvir in 126 BC. In this year Caius Gracchus was quaestor and beginning his political career, he would be plebeian tribune three years later in 133.
On the obverse, a voting urn upside-down : commemoration of the law of 137 instating the secret vote proposed by Cassius' relative Lucius Cassius Longinus Ravilla. On the reverse, Libertas driving quadriga, holding pileus and vindicta, the first ever allegory of Liberty on a coin.

    NEXT : a quadriga.

Dacia Capta dupondius of Trajan, I just wish the patina was more uniform on both sides, although I really like the reverse.

    Faustine I voilée.jpg
First I saw this Faustina posthumous sestertius as a worn coin. Now I admire the elegance of Pietas on the reverse.

It could make a book cover

NEXT : a coin you could imagine on a book cover (any kind of book !)
