The coinage of the Pandyan dynasty, their coins are really underrated compared to their neighbouring Cholas, and given the former were subjugated by the later for nearly 300 years, the coins of Pandyas are scarcer. Although I wish there are more guides and info on their issues which span nearly 1500 years.

I think the coins of present-day Indonesia are a really interesting niche which is generally overlooked by the wider Western collecting world, although that seems to be changing fairly fast. Here is a Javanese cash coin which copies the classic Chinese copper cash coins with the square hole but instead add in a hexagon hole. The meaning of the reverse character is unknown but has been suggested to be a mintmark, copying another Chinese numismatic tradition.

Notes: Jun 26, 21 - Coin struck in the names of Quintus Caecilius Metellus Pius Scipio, commander of the Pompeian forces in Africa and Marcus Eppius. The inscription "LEG F. C." is probably best translated as "LEGATUS FISCI CASTRENSIS" - Legate of the camp treasury. The coin was struck in 47 or early 46BC. The Pompeians were badly defeated in the Battle of Thapsus in February 46BC and Scipio committed suicide in its aftermath. Eppius survived to strike coins in Spain for Sextus Pompey.

This coin is illustrated on page 60 of Elvira Clain-Stefanelli's "Life In Republican Rome On Its Coinage".
