...@Svessien, this is Really pushing the envelope, on numerous levels, but here goes. COINS, LOWER LOTHARINGIA, DENIER C. 1000.jpg
It's a relatively recent immobilization of issues of early Salian issues of Koln. But from Lower Lotharingia. Relative to the named Heinrich, it's posthumous; and Lotharingia was ...well, as we know, it's Own Thing, over the course of the medieval period.
...To cut to the chase (...sustained technical difficulties have ensued --maybe I'm not buying enough plane tickets, or looking at enough porn to make these people happy), here's the original listing, from a recent Elsen auction.
    (Edit: here's the description: )
1,19g Rare.)

Massive thanks, @Bing. ...And this is why I need to avoid this thread, until that part of the game actually starts to register.
Anything corresponding to the 10th or 11th centuries CE. ...Including, but by no means limited to, lesser known issues from the more westerly parts of Europe. ...In any case, with points awarded for surprises.

Not European but it does bridge the 10th and 11th centuries.

(Thanks for that, @TuckHard. ...That was (more or less Exactly) why I was trying to keep the 'Europe' part in the second paragraph!!!
(...Now I'm wanting to hear some of the old-timey Ravi Shankar I grew up with, if only from the vinyl. ...No, depending on what there is on YouTube, one album, in particular. ...Fine, Okay. Once was called, The Genius of Ravi Shankar. ...Has a particularly brilliant tabla solo, by someone whom no one seems to remember anymore.)

    Goes without saying!
Rajendra Chola (1014-1044AD), Raja Raja Chola's son, he invaded the Sri Vijayan empire in the South East Asia, I have made a post about this invasion.

    Thanks for that, @Broucheion.
Here's all I could find (on YouTube) of where I was wanting to go in the first place. ...Funly, the tabla solo!

...I could compare it to the best Baroque or Jazz I've ever heard, for how it manages to be that beautiful, and that densely cerebral at the same time. ...Almost as if (no conspiracy theories in this house) someone was trying to Tell you something.

Maryse Blet-Lemarquand and others proved that the trace elements found in Gallic gold coins were found in the Hirtius Aureii minted by Julius Caesar. This basically proves that this coinage was struck from captured enemy gold coins though they were definitely of lesser purity. Next coin one of Caius Julius Caesar.

The following from forum catalog :
"Lepidus was a faithful follower of Julius Caesar, and he served as Praetor and Consul. When Caesar was assassinated, Lepidus was in charge of the cavalry and commanded a legion. This position secured him a place in the Second Triumvirate along Marc Antony and Octavian. His cut was Africa. When Octavian attacked Sextus Pompey's Sicily, Lepidus' ships and troops supported him. In an uninspired move, Lepidus thought he could force Octavian to leave him the island. The two armies separated and isolated skirmishes occurred, but soon the soldiers sick of yet another civil war, acknowledging Octavian's superiority deserted Lepidus en-masse. Lepidus left the island as a simple civilian, retaining only his priesthood, but he was the only defeated Imperator not to suffer a violent death."

WOW @Cucumbor - that is a wonderful coin... while Lepidus is seen as a "loser" in the imperatorial struggle - he lived until the age of 76.. much longer than most of his competitors. An amazing life. Someday I would like to own a coin of his..
