    Although I don't have a temple coin from Rome, I do have this Madurai Nayakas Sri Vira coin from the 1500s depicting the goddess Meenakshi standing in her sanctum!

    The building still survives in the Roman Forum, enclosing the church of S. Lorenzo in Miranda.

    In 1127 AD the Northern Song Dynasty capital city of Kaifeng was sacked by the Jin Dynasty, forcing the Song court to move south where it became known as the Southern Song Dynasty.

    The Pandian kingdom had Madurai as their capital for more than 1500 years, until they had conflict with the Delhi Sultanate in the mid-14th century which weakened them, and subsequent invasions from Vijayanagar kingdom made them shift their capital to Tenkasi some 82 miles south west.
