    COINS, PROVENCE, RAYMOND BERENGER V.jpg
Raymond Berenger, Count of Provence 1209-1245. 'Menut marseillais' (Duplessy) /'obole' (Poey d'Avant), 1243-1245.
Shield (Distinctive rounded bottom --sorry-- typical of Iberian and Occitanian shields) with the royal arms of Aragon (of which Raymond was a cadet).
    +[R:] B. COMES.
    Rev. [E]P / VI /N / CI (Or, from 1 o'clock, 'PVINCIE;' Provence.)
Duplessy 1615, Poey d'Avant 3935. (...And Boudeau 810, Roberts 4592, as a 'denier.' Also Crusafont Vol. IV, 176, as a 'diner'.)
    HERALDRY, HARNESS STUD, PROVENCE, OBV..jpg
    HERALDRY, HARNESS STUD, PROVENCE, REV..jpg
Harness stud with arms of Aragon, c. earlier 13th c.
Cf. Stephen Ashley, Medieval Armorial Horse Furniture in Norfolk. East Anglian Archaeology Report No. 101, 2002. See esp. p. 18, figures p. 19.
It's natural that a stud like this would have been found in England, since Henry III married one of Raymond's daughters, Eleanor. Her entourage would've been all over the place.
