    OK, I know this doesn't qualify as a coin in this thread and I've shown this picture previously, but it's one of my all-time favorite sculptures.

    Fascinating. I recommend the wikipedia story to the rest of you. Medusa turned men to stone and the bronze was erected facing other famous sculptures in, you guessed it, stone.
