Blaming Mithridates for this requires a very Roman spin on the events.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asiatic_Vesper

The family he killed, including himself, were spared being killed or used as trophies in the triumph of Pompey. To the mindset of that day, a simple death was preferable to the torture and dishonor of being taken by the Romans. Today, we hear the term "Fake News". History is written by the victors. Truth is not now and never was a consistent primary requirement of the political class.

Well, this coin that I was about to post for another reason - qualifies as my first from Philip II of Macedon as well as
    Philipp II.jpg
Philip II of Macedon reigned 359–336 BC, AE
Obv: Diademed head of Apollo right
Rev: ΦIΛIΠΠOY, Youth on horseback right; thunderbolt before.

@Alegandron beat me the punch and then @TuckHard was quicker, however, I will still post this coin too. It is a recent pick-up that was certainly inspired by many related examples from the @Ryro collection. Not 100% on the attribution, the symbol on the reverse (below) appears to be a grain ear.
