Ok, I have posted this a few times, and I was averse to posting it again. I searched through the threads, and saw the only FROG posted as their coin, was several years back by a person that is no longer on the Forum. (His frog was similar to mine... a little different corn ear reverse.)

@Ed Snible helped point to some Seriphos Frog Staters (very cool, and I guess pretty hard to get.)

So that we do not get hung up with more 12 hour timeouts, here is my Frog:

Comments: crudely cast as always, Fine to VF, R.

Hmmm... Why did I get it? History? NO! I got the FROG!

Ignoramus Maximus Nomen non est omen.

Yes! Finally a coin to join in!

Here it is: Bruttium the Brettii. Ares, Corinthian helmet with griffin, ear of grain. 214-203 BC.png bruttium reverse.png

Bruttium, the Brettii. Double unit. 214-203 BC. 13,56 gr. 26 mm
Head of Ares, crested helmet with a griffin.
    Below: a SINGLE grain-ear.

Not a god I would usually associate with an ear of grain, but there you have it...

    Next: a nice countermark

Twelve hour rule. None from Phoenicia with a temple, I guess. It's important that the themes suggested for the next coin in the thread not be so narrow that only one member might be able to satisfy the suggestion. Broader themes allow for greater participation.

I'll play off the last coin by showing another one from Antioch with a countermark:

    Trajan, AD 98-117.
    Roman Provincial Æ 29 mm, 15.86 g, 12 h.
Syria, Seleucis and Pieria, Antioch, AD 115-116.
Countermark: laurel branch in incuse rectangle, Howgego 378 (69 sp.).
Rev: S·C in laurel wreath; Є below.
    Refs: RPC III 3616; cf. BMC 20, p. 185, 286 (with same countermark); Wruck 196; McAlee 489(e).

That's a lot of laurel! Laureate head, laurel countermark, laurel wreath on the reverse.

Next: More laurel, but not worn on the head.

I guess wearing a lion's head on top of one's own head could be construed as "funny looking headgear" as Hercules is doing on this coin of Tiate - modern Chieti.
