Here's one that I can only reference by its countermarks - Howgego 130 & 408. It seems to have a large "S C" on the reverse. 13.44g, 27mm.

    Next - another interesting countermark.

This countermark turns this coin from a run-of-the-mill SC reverse type of Antioch into an interesting historical puzzle.

Notes: According to Romancoins.info, this is one of a group of countermarks on eastern provincial coins with possible links to the legionary administration of the eastern frontier towards Persia. The countermark was applied before A.D. 132-135. Reverse die-match to the RPC III plate coin (Ashmolean Museum, Oxford).

Next -- laurel branch not used as a ruler's crown.

Sorry Panzerman, apparently there are no Myshemihektes around... what is it, by the way? I thought that the Greek word Mys means Mouse.

So I'm taking the liberty to show a Christmas coin (in that it has a red and green patina), from the series of Provincial coins with interesting reverses that I bought last month.

My wife hijacked the coin, when it arrived via our mail man on Monday. So this morning to my utter surprise, I found a registered letter from Nomos inside a gift box, with a dandy little coin inside. Best way for wives to buy coin presents=ones we won in prior auctions.
