No, I had no access to a metal detector at the time (nor could I afford one). By the time I could afford one, there was a new room built over the same spot. I'm sure I did miss many!
That reminds me; One Sunday, around noon, I was at a meat market with my parents. I look under me, and I saw what every Man, Woman, and Child hoped to see. $40. two $20s folded in half, and put under the counter. We were about to leave, so I snatched it. No one was around me, so I doubt anyone dropped it. I wonder why it was down there though.
Nice little thread. Sunday morning, Memorial Day weekend, bout 20 years ago, I found a 100.00 bill on the ground outside of a bank. I was looking around like it was a Candid Camera episode. I waited to see if anyone came around looking. Nope. That cash ended up as a donation to my local VFW post the next day. Hey you gotta spread your good fortune. That was my biggest FOG.
Oh i forgot, i found a 1901 Canadian large cent in the reject bin at TD. I was estatic and I don't even collect foreign coins!
OK, my Christmas story...waiting in line at Fry's Electronics just before Christmas, I look down and there is paper money at my feet...$100 bill...the guy behind me congratulated me. 5 minutes later, a young guy comes back through the line checking the floor and asks if someone found $100...I handed it over. After checking out, as I left, he was still at a register, so I said Merry Christmas. He said he would like to give me $20 for a finder's fee, but it was his grandma's $100 and she was having him to buy things for her to give as presents...that was a good enough fee.
