Stopped by our local flea market today and picked up this Morgan. Guess the Grade, Price, and VAM. (VAMing is still too hard for me [emoji4]).

Also saw a 1904 O Morgan in a PNGS Slab, had a cert number. Any idea of company info? Internet was no help.

How can we guess the grade when it isn't graded? It's hard for me to tell since it is in the 2x2, but I don't see any luster on it.

I did a GTG to compare my opinion with yours. There definitely is luster.

It looks dull to me, and the mylar doesn't help.

I think it is AU 55-58 , I myself do not see anything jumping out for detail at that grade.

Consider any coin in one of these self slabs as a raw coin that would likely grade far below the lie on the label.

    OP coin is AU

So I got this coin for $45. First time with a Morgan in hand to Grade, how do I differentiate AU and MS? In hand my eye sees MS, but I am new at this so my grade might be off.

I can agree with AU but still feel the coin was cleaned. The lack of luster and the small dark spots make me think the coin was not stable after the cleaning.

I agree it's shiny as opposed to radiant

I think the luster is muted by the 2 x 2. Hair curl over the ear looks perfect. Eagles breast well defined. I would give it at least ms 60.

See the hairlines on the cheek? That is indicative of circulation.

It looks over-dipped in the first pictures. The next show a little more luster, but the cheek does make me wonder if it rode in somebody's pocket. Really need to see it in hand to be sure.

I would take it out of the holder, but I don't have any dollar 2x2 and I want to keep it safe.
