Good evening! I've been saving some nicer Jefferson Nickels for a future TPG bulk submission. Every once in a while, I go through the tube and pare it down (eliminating coins I don't think are worthy of spending money to have graded.) The way I see it, if my experience and knowledge increases over time (hopefully) then eventually I'll have a pretty nice group of coins that actually deserve to be slabbed. Here are five coins from that tube - some I feel could still warrant a slab (at bulk prices, that is) and a couple I think probably wouldn't do well if submitted. Enjoy! 1938 D This one has lovely color, but unfortunately someone with poor coin handling etiquette left their fingerprints on it. I'm on the fence about this one. At the very least, I'll save it for myself. 1940 D This one has some unusually strong color on the obverse, as well as full steps (which is common on 1940 D's) but the spots on the reverse make me believe it would be Detailed if submitted, either for AT or ED. 1949 S Just my luck, find a prooflike 1949 S and it has major issues in the fields (reminds me of the PL 1976 D Kennedy I found last year.) At the very least, I'm keeping it for myself...might just submit it and see how they treat the breaks in the luster on the surfaces. 1950 D I already have a couple keeper 1950 D's, but this one has gorgeous color, booming luster, and full steps. I'd definitely submit it and hope for a star. 1956 P The luster and color are really, really superb in hand - so I think I may submit it to go for the 64/65 star. I've had pretty bad luck getting stars, though, so it might be a waste of money. Of course, at bulk rates, it's not that much of a gamble, which is why I save these up until I have enough of them.
