When a foreign mint say does a run of 1000 units and you are lucky enough to get a numbered COA and it is number one is that a first strike ?
When you send a coin to be graded by a service that tells you that you are getting back the same coin you sent. Should we just trust the system ? We do have a number on an order form !
Maybe a small laser number like diamonds receive ,put some where near the edge. It would match the number on the COA. All coins in a set would receive the same number. Would this enhance the value over time, or change grading and authentication to older coins only ? I believe an unguarded cookie jar, empties at a faster rate then one that is monitored. Is this a hobby , or really about some serious money ? Everyone engages in the possibilities of picking the right combinations of coins ( Money ) to trade them for more money. If one is in this business then why do we trust others who say they can perform a service as a business, but the words " Trust us" seems to be out of character for one who you send your savings to.

    Money, Money, Money.
The bottom line, just an excuse to 'create' a new collectible and more fees.

Yes it probably will make a difference, since, if you check the pops, I belive you will find that the non first strikes are scarcer than the first strikes. So First Strike coins may be worth LESS than "regular" pieces. (Of course if that happens you can always crack them out and resubmit them to lose the First Strike designation. Just don't send the First Strike labels back in to lower their pops. If you do then the First Strikes may move up in value again.)

    first strike - nonsense

with the bad quality control processed by the u.s. mint recently. coin being jump out of the capsule. coin being bumpped. coin being get dirt. the slab companies still able to get plenty of ms-70 or proof 70. i would grade them only ms-68 for their ms-70. i will never buy any slab coin. what you buy from the mint is considered the best. that's is. in the future, the complete original mint products with certificate and boxes will considered the most wanted by the collectors. or in the future, new companies will organized and grade those slab coin again. remember, only antique coins graded will considered great. all modern slab were simply garbage.

Ditto. First Strike to me is the first coin struck from a new die pair. Anything after that is just a regular coin. Maybe...just MAYBE I would pay a very small premium for the first coin struck from each die pair. Afterall that is a one of a kind. 1 out of 50,000 (or whatever the number is) isn't that special....
