Think most that got their orders in before the mint stopped taking any kind of "next in Line" order will see their expected ship dates to keeping jumping ahead one day , each day. Kind of like a dog chasing his tail. Am not sure about this but from what I have seen this moving ship date will stop when the mint sets a ship date for some of these coins or SKU's. The mint will resume this moving "expect to ship date" after a bunch have been shipped. Just watch and when this expected ship date stops again, then that is a ship date. I assume the mint will make several shipments of these coins. Again I could be wrong but that is what I have seen in the past. I ordered one way late just to see what happens. Thinking about some nice morgan dollars. By the way mine change to back order and in process which really means little as I am on the "soon to be rejected list" good luck group. I was told they sold out in less than 2 hrs. EDIT. my personal opinion is if you ordered in the first 2 hours you should be fine. Just make sure that your credit card is up to date. Last year on the Gold anniversary set, I was told that lot of people tried to use their debit cards and forgot abouth the dailey maximum limit. Several missed out because of this. There is always a certain amout of orders that will be cancelled because of stuff like this. Just my humble opionins.
With any luck, the mint will crosscheck addresses and eliminate any and all duplicates. If it makes anyone feel better, mine are all listed as backordered with a 07/06 ship date.
The order numbers all have 8 digits and go numerically as people order coins. 254225xx 11:55am 25423XXX at 12:05
Thanks. That's helpful information. Interestingly, my order confirmation is timed 12:31AM. It obviously was 12:31PM.
I spoke with a guy named Andrew at the Mint and he told me that this: Order Status: Your order request is on hold. means that I did get in and will get the coins, they are just processing the order. He assured me that I would get the coins.
That's a relief. Mine says the same thing. Last time (with the subscription fiasco) the phone rep told me that their system indicated I had cancelled the order myself on their web site (which of course, I hadn't). It would be nice if they used less ambiguous language. What would be wrong with "Your order is confirmed. See list of items for expected shipping dates." I also know that they charged my credit card for the bronze medals I ordered and the shipping charge, so I know that part went through.
I have two on hold and two in process, the middle two are the ones on hold which is sort of strange. I'm not worried though I think I will get at least three of them filled.
The question is, what does "in process" mean. The mint is very helpful on this. Question What does the status Your Order is in Process mean? Answer This status means your order is still being processed. ..... Great! What does "process" mean? Does it mean "we're packing up your coins to ship them" or "we're checking to see if we have any left to sell you" ? There is no FAQ item for "on hold". Does anyone know what either one of these terms actually means?
Last year I called about this and from what I remember all orders over a certain amount are placed on hold until they can check the credit card. Once they do that then it is placed in process. At least that is how I remember it, they may have other reasons to place an order on hold though.
The day of my order and yesterday, my order was on hold. Now it is in process. I have no idea what this means either. I guess I need to call the mint and see what they have to say. I am taking this as a positive even though I did not get my order in till 3:10. Time will tell.
Looks like the very first orders for these coins have already been filled and shipped. Some have already received them by FedEx, hopefully mine are not far behind.
Mine has gone from "on hold" to "in process". At the same time the expected shipping date changed from 7/6 to 7/7. So at least we know that "in process" comes after "on hold" So wonderful to be kept guessing!
One observation that I have is that on Ebay there are many more proofs for sale than uncs. Looks like uncs will be have a much lower mintage than the proofs..
According to ND86 (before he departed the forum) the mintages would be equally divided between proof and uncirc.
