My choice for presentation of what I bought in the first half of 2017 is these five denarii - two Caracalla, Elagabalus, Geta and Alexander Severus: I have to slow down considerably in the second half of 2017, or my wife will kill me.
Love those London mint coins, I'm going there in a couple of weeks I will see if I can snag a bargain.
These have been posted on separate threads before.....so at the risk of boring everyone.....here are some of my H1 purchases: Bruttium Kroton AR Obol Brutus Denarius Julius Caesar Cassius Longinus Julius Caesar Denarii Marc Antoni Denarii Octavian
And a few of my absolute favourites: Alexander The Great Quarter Stater Seleukid, Antiochos I Soter Lampsakos Lesbos Mytilene El Hekte Thrace Lysimachos Tet
I would say that tari is pretty standard. It's not the nicest since you can't see the outer legend. Most of them have ragged flans, and are all crude, so I wouldn't worry about that. I would say there are nicer ones out there, but it does depend on how much you want to spend. Mine was $210 - this one is a little sharper, and while you can make out part of the outer legend, not all is visible (the outer legend is the interesting part since it contains a mint and date). I would hazard maybe $230 for this coin? (But I'm also stingy...)
Just in case I haven't said so before, everybody has posted some pretty amazing and beautiful coins in this thread!
