This had me wondering. In many multilingual countries, there are good attempts to feature different languages on the same coin. I do not know anything about the ancient world and thought it would be best to post here. I think this is an interesting subject - back in ancient / medieval era where conquest and colonization is the norm - I can't think of many coins that would feature either two langauges or dual denomination. The only coin that comes to mind is a coin from Russia / Moldava / Romania area where coins were struck in dual denomination - 2 para or 3 kopek issued in 1772. Would like to hear more.
Well there are plenty of bilingual ancient coins. Doug posted this question as a quiz recently, at FORVM... http://www.forumancientcoins.com/board/index.php?topic=91023.0
