[QUOTE="jorje_villafan, post: 796762, member: 22813"]Your photo does a pretty good job of giving the jist of what the coin is about. However, I agree with mark_h, that the photo could be larger and have the excess trimmed off... I am very new to the coin world, so I'm not sure of the exact needs of the scrutinizing numismatics eye. But, Bigger is better, right?

Not sure how much non-photographer help you want (if any), but here is an example of an ihp photo that I just took, with a Canon SD780. It is by no means a high grade camera.

Had to fuss with settings to get good detail. Camera was about 5in. away, attached to an old tripod (if it's too close the camera won't focus proper). I have it set to take the largest pictures possible for this model camera. That way after I trim the excess off, the coin image will be larger without having to blow it up past it's original size. Set the timer for 2 seconds, then clicked the pic..... Too much light in the first pic so I blocked some with my free hand then took another, which is what you see here. Did the same with the reverse, then trimmed the excess and combined the obv. and rev. in GIMP...

I was already set up to take pictures of coins, so it took no more than three minutes from getting the coin out of the box to saving the finished altered picture.
