Most will post their new "buys" of the year, what about the first "arrival" of the year? I got some money for Christmas & a few days after the holiday, Forvm listed some new coins and the pleasantly surprised to see my latest addition listed pretty reasonably. I was never in the market for a Macrinus denarius, being that I am happy to fill my Tetradrachm of him to fill the slot. I didn't hesitate long & purchased it. I ended up receiving it on Jan 2, so it wasn't my first buy for 2020, it's the first coin delivery. Annoyingly Forvm started their 10% sale the day after I bought this, but I didn't want to see this go to someone else. I am using forvms pic, in hand, the coin is so much better. Especially the toning. This happens to be the "mid-length" style beard. I don't see them as much as the short length beard. Macrinus (217 - 218 A.D.) AR Denarius O: IMP C M OPEL SEV MACRINVS AVG, laureate and cuirassed bust right, from front, younger features with medium beard. R: PONTIF MAX TR P COS P P, Jupiter standing half left, nude, no cloak, thunderbolt in right hand, long scepter vertical behind in left hand. 2.73g 20mm Rome Mint, Sep 217 A.D RIC IV 15 (S), RSC III 55b, BMCRE V 31, SRCV II 7342, Hunter III Maxwell Hunt Collection
