With the concern about fingerprints, I was surprised to see, in this video http://www.pcgs.com/services/, that even though the graders were careful to handle the coins on the edge, they were not wearing gloves.
I definitely wouldn't submit it. It's not worth it. I sell a lot of junk silver to people and occasionally I will buy bags for resale and I see quite a few proof Kennedy's in there. I wouldn't dream of submitting those and they have silver in them. As for a 1989 Kennedy half, no way. I would just spend it or keep it in a Kennedy collection.
Submission package i have ready includes 8 modern commemoratives, a hard times token, and a proof SBA dollar. This half didn't make the cut lol... Removing all these from the original packaging (except for the HT token of course) is always stressful; always worried I'll scratch it somehow. I always wear cotton gloves, only touch the edges, and am very careful opening out of their capsules. Did find my WWII half dollar has some small scratches on the obverse (the fault of some mint employee apparently, as it was still in its original packaging) but submitting it anyway. The reverse is the main reason I bought that coin anyway. May post a few pics when I get them all back. Got a bunch of foreign silver bullion coins I'll probably submit next month. Same reason; a lot of these have inconvenient packaging or no packaging. All look to be in good shape and wondering how they'll grade. Stay tuned I guess.
i just purchased this nice proof 1952 Lincoln, when i bought it on ebay for 24.00 (he was asking 29) it did not show prints in the photo on the listing, when i got it it did, he offered 5.00 rebate, i took it since i wanted this for my personal collection and has 2 errors on it, one a die crack that goes from obverse to reverse and a small die chip on the o in god on obv, as well.....so, any opinions as to grade?? let me know please your opinions...this is not for sale, just my personal collection i love die breaks..
