On September 16, 2016 Paul Francis Jacquier´s auction 41 offered a stunning 450 high quality coins of Postumus, Laelianus, Marius, and the Tetrici from the Michel Thys collection - the largest collection of coins of the Gallic Empire ever offered. I think the portrait style of this Sestertius is hard to beat for bronzes of that troubled period. I wish I had one but I don't. I might go for one of those double sestertii that he issued, if I can find one. Or maybe one of these aureii, lol...
Very nice Sestertius @Julius Germanicus ! Congrats on that snare! I only have this AR of Postumus... No AE... I am looking for the elusive Laelianus, but do have a Marius: RI Marius 269 Gallic Usurper BI Ant CONCORD MILIT Clasped Hands
Very nice OP Postumus!!! Fantastic eye appeal!! The die polishing lines (I think that is what I am seeing) really set off the portrait.
Terrific portrait! That Jacquier auction really had some fabulous coins. The style of my ‘Atelier II’ double sestertius looks downright crude in comparison.
That is a very appealing sestertius of Postumus with a fine style portrait. Very nice! congratulations on the acquisition. I remember the Jacquier catalog - there were some impressive bronzes in that sale. My own bronze pf Postumus is more mundane, but it has my favorite color (green) and what I consider to be a finely-styled portrait (better in hand than in the picture).
