My problem, besides the sweat in my eyes,is finding who owns the old shoolyards and churches and actally going to get permission to hunt.
I haven't found a good way to ask if I can dig up someones land.:headbang:

I agree, I have a hard time asking for permission.
I have a friend, Richie, who is one of the shyest people that I have ever met, yet he can approach anyone to ask for permission.
Generally, at schools, I watch for the maintenance people and just approach them to talk about all of the trash that I have seen.
The conversations just naturally progresses, and eventually I (usually) get permission-- especially when they see all of the junk in my bag.
    Good luck, and keep trying.

Old church lots would be a great place to start if you have a hard time asking permission. I have never gotten a no from a church. Just call up the pastor and ask. Make sure you refill your holes properly of course.
It is hard to ask. Especially at old home sites. But if you want the old coins bad enough you will do it. The worst that has ever happened to me was that I was told no. Don't hurt that much. Just keep knocking and asking until you get a yes. Jim

I guess I just need to get off my butt and go do it. There is an old shool and old church I want to check, but they are both under private ownership now and I don't know who owns them. I guess I'll have to do some digging ( before I can dig!).
