So, I been looking for a coin of Henry VIII for some time. As historical figures go this king certainly had an impact on society. His many wives, the split with Rome, the establishment of a new church for England, and the debasing on British coins are just some of the things he is famous for. This coin shall take a prominent place in my historical figures collection. Yes, the coin is in a slab, but I will fix that. Please post your coins of Henry VIII or any of the Tudors. England. House of Tudor. Henry VIII (1509-1547). Second Coinage, 1526-1544. Groat, mm rose. Laker bust D, rev. Shield over cross fourchee. S.2337E. PCGS Genuine, Cleaned - XF Detail.

Very nice, Andrew. Congratulations on adding this groat of Henry VIII to your expansive collection. That is a worthy example. These are the Tudor coins in my collection: Groat of Henry VIII - Young Head Groat of Henry VIII - Old Head Shilling of Henry's son - Prince Edward VI Shilling of Henry's daughter - Queen Elizabeth I Sixpence of Henry's oldest daughter, Mary Tudor ('Blood Mary".) Married to Philip I of Spain
SO COOL ANDREW!!! I want to get a Hank 8! I used to go to The Bush pub in St Hilary, Wales all the time when I lived there. It was purported the 2nd oldest pub in the UK, and was licensed by King Henry VIII back around 1510 (they had a copy of the License framed in the pub). Loved the place, had a few draughts through the week, and it was always my Saturday veg-out place! Gawd, I loved that place! Miss it sorely! I have a few coins from his Red-Headed Daughter Lizzy: England Elizabeth I AR 3 Pence 1566 Her bust l rose shield 19 mm G England - Elizabeth I - 1558-1603 AR Shilling England - Elizabeth I 1558-1603 AR Sixpence 3rd-4th issue crescent mintmark
Cool shot of the pub Brian. I would love to hang out in a place like that. Your coins of Elizabeth are great. I especially like the sixpence. I do not have one of those. The only coin I have of Elizabeth I is a three pence.
Very nice Angel of Henry VIII. Everytime I put the money aside for one, another coin pops up and takes it place on the priority list. Of course the angel I would love to have but will never get is the Richard III.
I'm totaly jealous @Orfew ! The only thing I can play the game with is that Lizzy I sixpence Six pence, sixth type, 1591 Ref : Spink # 2578 B Q
My favorite 'fat' roman is Vitellius, but he wasn't a tyrant (at least he didn't get much of chance time-wise to be one). Here another coin of the Tudors, a tiny penny of Elisabeth I:
Great addition to your collection @Orfew I see Henry VIII as someone going through life completely self absorbed and caring only about what he wanted with no regard to anyone or anything else. Like most people with such an attitude ,I believe Henry was a deeply and profoundly unhappy person. It is interesting to look at the significant impact his bumbling attempts to satisfy himself had on history.
Great collection of the Tudors @Eduard But I feel this thread should have been under World Coins (Medieval and all that). Perhaps it would have got more attention there
