I said I would not post another thread until I knew I had an error coin. Well it has been weighed at 3.1 g and I know this is a small date. Only thing is I don't really know how to go about getting it graded !! Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all !!
1982 - check Small date - check copper - if you weighed it, check D mint mark? - NOPE Your coin is a normal 1982 Small Date copper cent minted in Philly.
Yes, Philadelphia Small Date cent. Congrats !! the super hard one to find is the Denver cent. The phillies should be easy. you can buy rolls of BU 1982 P on eBay for $16ish if you want the easy route of getting a bunch of them in good condition. Or just pull them out of circulation as there should be bunches. MS65 condition they're about 0.65 cents. grading may cost a tad more than that though ...
There's nothing to grade. Even if it was MS (and I think it misses it appears cleaned and circulated) it's a 50 cent coin with no market. The small date Philly zinc is worth a little more. I say cleaned because the color does not look right to me for a copper. As stated the super rare coin is 1982-D small date copper. 2 are known.
Well dang. Aight thank y'all. I'll be back when I have an error coin. Learned another valuable lesson. Sorry to bother everyone. Have a great night
@Nick Chiappetta what kind of error are you looking for? or are you looking specifically for a copper 1982 D cent .. because we'll never hear from you again if that is the case.
82 p SD copper is $50 retail in MS 65 RD Source: Coin World Magazine, June 2019; Vol. 60 Issue 3086 pg. 57.
He didn't actually want it graded. He wanted it attributed as a 1982 D small date copper. Which unfortunately it was not.. It's a common mistake in terminology for new collectors searching for the major known errors or varieties. Such as "I found a 1969 Doubled Die.. Where do I sent it to get graded?"..
