Hello all. I found a dime in my pocket change today that I feel I have matched up with the 1967 DDO FS-101 Dime. Except... If you agree that this is indeed a ddo then look at the mark behind the neck where it angles down towards his chest. That is doubled , in front of his chin you can also see doubling. Also on the reverse, E. Pluribus looks doubled. Especcially the E. PL U B. I feel really confident on this ddo as well but that's usually bad so help please.
The clearest doubling in FS-101 is IN GOD WE TRUST, the designer's initials and the date. I see none of that in these images.
That's why I love this site. Nothing sugar coated. I need to use arrows and point to everything that I'm seeing and post pic so I can figure out what I'm doing so wrong.
Rick, I'll be home Wednesday evening. I'll look at my database and see what extras I have. I'll PM you and send you a variety or two to maybe get the ball rolling. Chances are you just haven't run into a DDO, DDR, or RPM yet. I remember how frustrating it was when I started, but as soon as you see one in hand, it kinda clicks. Once you see it, unless a coin is beat up, you won't even have to ask.
I took another look at this 1967 dime and back and forth between it and the ddo-001 on variety vista site and they match up on everything it seems. My pics don't show much of anything. I will retake so I can show you what I'm seeing and thinking is a match and maybe you can tell me what I'm looking at. I do appreciate the examples Jay but that seems like a lot of trouble. A few good pictures of your coins next to a example and I should be doing better. Thanks again.
I have found a few decent varieties. This being 1 of them. Not the greatest but still enough to keep me hooked.
Now that's the real deal. If you can show the doubling through IGWT on the Roosevelt, especially GOD where it should be plain, I'll change my mind about the Dime. But that doubling must be present first, before anything else you might observe, before it can be called FS-101.
I hold in my hand at this moment a 1967 With doubling seen on the Obverse. It was graded MS 64 last time in, I picked it up thinking it was the nicer coin. Came back 64 I tossed it in the scrap PCGS box with other coins I didn't like. Well I like it now baby I need it for my PCGS ROOSEVELT DIMES FB COMPLETE VARIETY SET, CIRCULATION STRIKES (1965-PRESENT)
