I've been interested in large denomination US currency ever since I was a kid, and my Dad showed me a $100 bill from his wallet. Having rarely seen anything larger than s 5-spot, that C-note was fascinating. Why was Ben Franklin on the $100 bill smiling, when the dead presidents on the smaller bills always scowling and glaring? Now finally, as an adult, I can have s $500 note in my collection. You can't see in the picture, but it is in a PCGS holder, with an EF 45 grade. Thanks for looking.
I am under the impression that the graffiti (writing in red ink) would affect the grade. Maybe it isn't the case...?
There's also an ink pad stamp on the reverse. But it's better that it wasn't tried to be removed and damage the note. These are in the 1000 area these days I think.
Evenly circulated note, too bad about the distractions. Does the holder have a notation about the problems ?
I paid just under $890 for this note. And yes, the holder does note the ink stamps. There are also a few tiny pinholes visible when held up to the light. Overall, I am very pleased with it
Is there a slight offset transfer on the reverse of the G seal, or is that coming through from the light from the front?
