Hi guys,

My dad is putting together an Ike dollar set, when he asked me my opinion on this 71-S Ike. At first glance I quickly said Proof and went about my business confident in my assesment. But then I looked at his Whitman Classic Ike Dollar Folder and saw that the coin he asked me about was a double and not part of the set, so I looked through the folder and quickly retracted by Proof assesment and changed my verdict, asserting it as being a UNC (business strike). The reason: when I first saw the coin it definetly had a mirrored looking field (cloudy and not very reflective). But upon looking at his folder and the other examples of a 71-S Ike Proof and a 71-S Ike BU, I was left scratching my head. The BU 71-S in the folder was very mirrored and the Proof was reflective enough for a good shave. My knowledge of the Ike series is, well, lets just say lacking, so I throw this one to you, you Ike lovers. MUCH THANKS (from me and the parental unit)! The first 2 pics are the coin in ?.

Here are the BU and Proof coins already in the folder
