Well, here is an update. I was contacted by a member of upper level management today. He informed me that because FedEx lost the package it was thier responsibility. Like I said, this is not up for debate. FedEx is admitting they were in the wrong but said my package was only insured for 100 dollars. He also "implied" that since I did not "request" registered mail and "insurance" for the full amount that it was my fault and I may want to make a claim on my homeowers policy(I don't even have one on my apartment but perhaps I should.) I then informed him that any reasonable person that recieved an invoice with a total including shipping would just go ahead and pay the invoice. After this, I became a little more aggressive at which point he said he would talk to his manager and get back to me. After not hearing back from him for several hours I called Heritage again and was told he was in a meeting and they were actually discussing my case. I never got a call back but am expecting one tomorrow. I will keep everyone posted but I would like to remind those of you that said you never had any trouble with Heritage to be careful. I'm not going to sit here and trash them and say not to do business with them. I mean be careful to make sure you request your items are shipped for their entire value(common sense would tell most that they would be covered by simply paying an invoice with a large and reputable company.) Keep in mind that many of you probably just got an invoice and paid it just like I did without giving additional insurance a second thought. If i'm correct in my assumption, this could have and still could happen to any of you. Please make sure anything you purchase from Heritage is insured for the full value because the fine print does read that it's the receipents responsibility to make sure all shipments are insured. Kind of a backwards policy as compared with other merchanats IMO. I guess I will see what tomorrow brings.
