You're the FedEx employee and apparently know what is going on? Well, let me tell you what is going on. I made out a police report today(they told me not to do anything(including talking to pawn shops and local dealers.) The package was insured for 100 dollars, not 25. As of this afternoon the FedEx driver was not fired because I was told he was on the road when I filed a complaint about this. You can assume all you want but the reality of the situation is this was a signature required package and was(according to the tracking info) left at the front door of a 200 unit apartment complex. Well, now i'm doing what I have to do!!!

Sorry to all of you that are here to help for the above comment. I'm an honest, polite, and very compassionate person. But the above the assumption that there was part of this story that "is too good too be true" is way out of line. I'm here on a foram trying to ask for help and eveyone was supportive until.......of all people.........a FedEx employee accused me of a scam. It was this comment that set in motion a chain of doubt that made me a suspect in a scam that I apparently decided to orchastrate, post on a message board and look for sympathy.

Anyway, here is what going on. Again, the police took my report(I gave them pictures of all the coins from the heritage lots.) They were not clear about what they were going to do but said it would be assigned to a detective that would be handling my case. I was told to do nothing in the mean time. "Don't be your own detective. We will handle it." As far as Heritage goes, I called them and they are still working on it. This sounds like a generic answer but they can't just shell out a check without doing an investigation. I think they are being reasonable. If they are not, they and FedEx will end up in court. Thanks to all of you and I will keep you posted. I have a good feeling that the offender will be caught now that the lots have been disclosed to the police who will be looking at dealers, coin shops and online auction houses. Finally, I thought this was a peaceful place to talk about coins. A few bad apples seem to have temporarily made me into something i'm not

Keep us posted on what Heritage does. I will not do business with them again if they do not do right by you.

Thanks for the update Richard - again I wish you the best of luck. As far as the comments that have been made in this thread - please remember this; The Internet attracts young (some on this site are quite young) and old, educated and some not so educated, some with agendas and some that are just down-right crazy. This applies to anywhere you go on the Internet and especially in chat-rooms and forums. Because it is the Internet people can say some really stupid things that they would never say face to face because they know how stupid they would look. The Internet offers anonymity to such a moral dilemma. The posts that are out of line - you know what the truth is and if others are trying to be helpful - take what you can from it. Also please remember for every true story that comes along there are five that turn out to be someone just looking to stir things up. They actually have a term for it - lol - I never remember what it is. Here and anywhere else on the web your skin has to be a little thicker than it would be in public and remember it might be a 12 year old on the other side of the keyboard just looking to have fun at your expense. Doesn't make it right - just don't expect to reason with them or expect reason from them...

Best Wishes - Hope it works out! ~ Darryl

Correction, "alleged" FedEx employee. For all we know he could be the Easter Bunny.

Before anyone has the chance - let me add this - I am not picking on the young, old, educated or not, those with agendas or those that are just plain crazy - some (the majority on this site in my opinion including the young) from every group represent themselves very well :thumb: :high5:

and for those that don't - life is too short and there are plenty of other threads where you can chat about coins.

I have never done business with Heritage, yet. They seem to have a good reputation though. So I will be very interested to see what happens with this situation. If Richard gets screwed out of 13k on this deal, I don't think I'll ever consider dealing with them either. I really think it will get taken care of somehow though. It would be a great travesty if it did not.

    Again, best of luck Richard.

heritage does more business than the other 9 combined together. they did not cheat the buyer they mailed the coins and they have specifically said in their contract once they mail it its the carriers responsibility the tpg's say the same thing only problem was they did not insure it

I never said Heritage "cheated" me. FedEx was negligant in thier delivery attempt and Heritage............well......... should have insured my shipment for the entire amount. I suppose thier size means they are beyond reproach? Those are the facts. Lets try and focus on the facts. I'm not here to argue. I value some opinions and don't value some others. Again, this is my last post until I have something more to tell everyone. I don't wish to turn this into a boxing match about who is correct. I hope this turns out well for me and hope that those that have read this will be careful about terms, shipping, and insurance before they bid with any auction houses. I never imagined this would happen to me so I hope others will be careful to make sure they read all fine print and make sure any shipments are properly insured.

I have done business with Heritage for years, I have never had a problem with them. I was not aware that they had that weird policy though, if they stick to that I can't continue doing business with them (not that that is a big deal to them, I am the smallest of fish).

its the odds danr they wont ruin their reputation over 13k. for a company that does business worth millions its not intheir best interest. i have had problems with them but they have always been resolved to satisfaction. sometimes we need to give people a chance to make it right. i am just saying that you have done business with them for years and there are people who do thousands of dollars worth of transaction with them with no problems dont shut them out on mistake that happened to someone else :) you will just be eliminating a lot of choices for your collection.

That post was meant for Danr and a direct answer to his comments because i dont want anyone to close out an avenue for growing their collection and Heritage is a big avenue. if you want to focus on facts i suggest that is where you begin. If we started reading every little piece of contract before we did business we would all be lawyers. the letter you mail the air you breath in your apartment the place where you park your car all have terms and conditions even the candy you eat and the movie you go to.

Update - I just received a message saying my coins have shipped :D and they shipped them via USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation. ;) There's only 8 total coins (4 1783 George Washington Tokens, 3 half-dollar California Gold Fractionals, and a 1807 S-271 DBC (Comet Variety) so there was no need to ship it FedEx. I've found that USPS Priority mail makes it to me within 2 days, 3 tops, so I will have my coins by Friday . . . that is, if they shipped the right ones.

    Ribbit :)

My last order was a bit significant, but they have to ship USPS and not FedEx since I have a PO Box. And I get them in two days. My only shipping issues lately have been with Stacks, and they misplaced my MS-67 Texas half and it wasn't in the shipment, I had to call them to get it going.
