FedEx lost my coins.

Like I said, when Richard called FedEx, FedEx told him it only had $100 insurance, because that is automatic even if you say you don't want insurance when you ship with them. So, if that didn't explain it, FedEx said it had $100 insurance, not Heritage.

$100 FedEx insurance is automatic even if you protest and threaten to shoot every FedEx delivery driver you see so the $100 FedEx insurance has NOTHING to do with 3rd party insurance.

    Oops!

You were editing this as I was replying. :D

I hate it when that happens. ;)

When Heritage ships with FedEx, they use a 3rd party insurer but FedEx still insures the package for $100. If the package is lost, the 3rd party insurance has to cover the lose, minus the deductable, which I would imagine is $100 (FedEx insurance amount) so Heritage isn't out any money (IMO). ;)

Heritage and FedEx both said it was insured for 100 bucks. As to why they can say that Shipping and handling includes third party insurance.......I don't have an answer for you.

TY Richard. That is exactly what I was asking, but there must be something I am missing from Heritage. I wish CaveTroll were around to explain it.

Anyhow, I am glad all worked out fine.

And Toad, I was not editing anything.

I see that now. I'm not sure how I got all turned around but I guess between the friggin phone and work, I missed one of your posts then caught it but then missed the one I originally caught. :goofer:

Ok, thanks for the update. Now I can use Heritage again.

Anyway I hope that Heritage goes for the jugular on FedEx and gets every penny back. FedEx did not get the sig therefore it is not an insurance issue, it is an "duty owed" issue.

If Heritage does use 3rd party insurance then Heritage gets their money from the Insurance Company, then the Insurance Company will go after FedEx to recover their loss. ;) That's how it usually werks. :D

I think we all need Heritage as they are the largest online auction house. I just would like to point out that we all should be careful to read all the fine print regarding insurance. Again, they said they would give me a refund. But this was after a week-long war. In the future I'm going to demand all my packages are insured and shipped registered mail. I have done many transactions before and have NEVER had a problem with registered mail. It may be slow, but I would rather have something late than never. Oh.......and make sure you're clear on the insurance. It's a lesson I almost had to learn the hard way.

Just my opinion, but I will not allow any of my packages to be transported by FedEx anymore. I'm sure they are a great company but I feel that registered mail will not only get my packages to me safer, but also alow me to sleep better at night:)

I'm glad to hear you're going to get your 13k back. Please post when you do because I'll believe it when you see it.

Good point. I was told I would get a check and a conformation email which I have yet to receive. But I did speak to Greg Rohan. I doubt he would just call me and promise a refund and not deliver.

I would consider it done. Heritage are making right on the deal.

I meant to say I did not receive the confirmation email yet. But this is Greg Rohan were talking about here. The fact that he delt with this matter personally makes me feel better. This is not a case of "Oh by the way we are waving one month of internet service because you're DSL was down for two days."

They charged me $107 and my order was $3K.

    Sub-Total $3,044.25
    Shipping $107.00
    Total $3,151.25

All the coins fit in a small FedEx box (which they put inside a USPS Express Mail box as I use a PO Box for delivery). After having a ~$20K package sitting on my front door thanks to FedEx incompetence, I switched to a PO Box for all deliveries.

How did they charge you that much? Did it specify that it was for shipping and insurance? If they shipped Express Mail your shipping and insurance should have only been around 30 bucks.

My issue and what you just described is what FedEx and Heritage need to address ASAP. To leave packages of this value just sitting around is just simply unacceptable. I'm glad all my future orders will be sent registered mail. In the future, I simply won't purchase coins over 2,000 dollars from ANYONE unless they are shipped registered mail.

$2K is a high threshold for going to registered, I have stuff sent registered for a lot less just for the guarantee of delivery. Always use a PO Box for anonymity also, not a good idea to have coin stuff coming to your street address.
