Number of transactions and dollar amount sold in a certain amount of time. Nice discounts for the Power Sellers.
If I'm only selling a dozen items a year, but have completed 1,000 seller transactions over the past 15 years, do you think I would qualify? Dollar amount per year is under 10k. I used to sell a lot more when the commission was like 2% or less and I could require checks or cash.
No you have to sell more than that. The main advantage is the 20% off final value fees. Some extra shipping discounts but not huge. I hear there is a powerseller forum but have never posted there. Basically you can't have more than 2% of your transactions with any issues of any type, even returns count as problem transactions. That makes little sense as you want to encourage returns rather than neutrals or unhappy customers.
Do you want to know what discourages returns more than anything else? Slow outbound shipping. When it takes forever to get there, the buyer is much less likely to send it back. I say that as much as a buyer as a seller, just psychologically taxing to return things when you know the process takes forever getting the coin in the first place. Of course that discourages people from ever buying another coin from the dealer, but it does cut-down on returns. In any case, I really don't understand why eBay would treat large volume sellers any different than the rest of us. It's not like they are sending out paper invoices, or that there are really any significant economies of scale for them to be doing it that way. Frankly, I've always thought eBay was much better in the early 2000s when it was the wild-wild west and feedback was key to making sure you were dealing with someone trustworthy both from a sellers and buyers vantage. The marketplace sorted all that out far more efficiently than all of eBay's nit-picking and overbearing regulations and rules. Sure, a few more people probably got ripped-off, but so what. The lower cost of doing business more than made up for that. With 13% and shipping clipped off every sale, eBay in 2015 is but a distant shadow of its once greatness.
Hope it was privately insured because FedEx max for coins is $1000. Unless he shipped it as more than one package. Considering it was six coins he probably could have done more than one package and been fully insured. No, but those who have tried to replicate your claim have been unable to do so.
I don't believe in blanket statements. I am not telling you to take it on faith that the world is round and to bankroll my expedition to the new world. I was trying to help you avoid a situation where you could be endangered or exposed. You don't have to, need to or apparently, want to believe me. Seriously bud, I wasn't selling anything, asking for anything, nothing, just trying to alert the community to something that was extremely disturbing.
Except for fiet who actually posted the same thing prior to this argument. And it was one, not those. Those seems to imply more then one. I guess they conspired together and posted at different dates just to fool everyone. I'm sure they have a huge incentive to do this. Personally all i do is sit around all day thinking up cool ways to deceive the good people of cointalk.
Thank you. I was convinced someone needed to hit the reset button on humanity. People can do whatever they want with this bad news, I just felt it was relevant. Thank you VegasVic. You have restored a fraction of my faith in humanity.
For specifics, see http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/seller-dashboard.html?clk_rvr_id=233141672386#level FWIW, your biggest discount is to open a store. For ~$15 per month (on a yearly basis), your FVF's are cut to 6%. Basically, if you sell more than $500 per month, you should open a store. If you sell sporadically, you can open a store for ~$20 per month each month. You get the same benefits, but you need only pay when you need the store benefits (prior to of course).
Careful, people here don't like me being praised. If you want to be popular I suggest you respond to my posts without actually reading them. Very popular here. If you want to sit at the cool kids lunch table throw in an insult to me about something I never said.
I find it extremely curious that only you and fiatfiaso have ever heard of such a thing - including numerous several USPS checks. From the several run ins I have had with eBay sellers, I have managed to see numerous USPS tracking reports both presented in my presence and from afar and never ever seen any connection to anything eBay/PayPal. And that includes a USPS inspectors report supposedly not for release to the public. And no one can even find any such incidences on the internet. Pardon me if I believe you need to present some evidence other than your word.
If I were a postal thief I would be looking for the weighty bullion or $20 certified gold packages that are left alone on a shelf where I could stick them under my sweatshirt, not the esoteric cents, 3c pieces, H10cs and dimes or dollars. Too complicated to fence at big values on the price guides. Though the bullion and semi-bullion coins can be sold in many ways to unsuspecting or crooked buyers. And probably 99% of postal employees are honest and would never steal risking loss of of their slice of the American dream or possibly doing time in the federal hoosegow. So even if the counter people had the inside information would it do them any good. However one time I got concerned was at a small PO where I had spoken with a lady worker who said she sold a lot on ebay and when I dropped two packages worth $250 each or so there they disappeared for 10 days, caused a lot of anxiety. I had kept the counter receipt and had other records on the certified material. Couldn't employees who know the ebay system cold do google searches of sellers and find recent transactions with their smart phones? I don't doubt it. But postal theft is a risky operation if you get caught or reported, but I hear they keep their bennes.
This actually is the more fun way to operate on here ... and it is best when done with Vic..... (Note: please, mods, don't shut me out for this!)
Maybe changing your id to "NastyOldGoldGuy" would be in order after this post? My request was not cloudy and the Postal Clerk at my Local Post Office is not a degenerate and I truly take exception towards your incinuation that she is. You made a claim and have been called on it. No point in being nasty with your "POSTAL" threats towards folks who were curious enough to follow up.
Let me ask you something chief. I want you to just try something real quick. Put yourself in my shoes. This happened. You saw it with your own eyes. Then a bunch of rabble rousers start singing about how it's not possible, how they can't replicate your experiment, how you are lying. And again, remember, you're me here, you were just trying to ALERT your fellow hobbyists. How would you react? But you don't have to answer it. Just thoughts from a big meany.
Let me ask you something, (N)OGG. your 'alert' went unheeded as unbelievable very early in this thread, yet you continue, unsuccessfully, to try to make us believe. Just how long are you going to beat that dead horse? IMO, you are a conspiracy theorist. Not a very successful one, though. I posted a link earlier, that's where you truly belong, as that is the most likely place to find someone to believe you.
Hey buddy, I tried to be you by recreating what you said you saw using your instructions. At least I provided evidence of what I experienced. As for the loosely veiled threat of violence, I've never, ever threatened something bad for folks that disagreed with me and never will since information and experiences can be freely shared without resorting to idle threats. However, in your case, I do hope that a moderator will take note of your posts.
