I've had this 1946 almost since I started collecting more than 75 years ago. The die chips make it look like Roosevelt needs a haircut.
Days late and a (half) dollar short. Probably got this one from grandpa; it's been in my album for 50+ years. My most valuable coins are all 1940s Canadian but you've seen them all before.
Well for Friday I had bid on a Five dollar gold piece. It was also a Fourty-Nine. And it was in a Four grade! I was outbid but may raise my bid a little as it's being sold on Friday.
