I understand why this is on your list. The San Francisco mint made the most beautiful Morgan dollars. For an 1880-S to get MS65 it is probably a wild pretty coin.
I did have a question to want his coins value is ??? and how that error was made ??? did you say NGC does not slab problem coins or error coins ??? Read more: http://www.cointalk.com/t227499-5/#ixzz2SoXb03y4 For the record, I do believe Mr. Alan Hager of Accugrade is the very first one certified a Double Denomination in Public at Baltimore Coin Show in Maryland in Year 2000 of March. I can say that because I do not remember or read to any coin magazines that the first double denomination was certified by any TPG's (Third Party Grading) earlier than March of 2000. With regards of NGC after I was told by a man with Pony tail hair in Baltimore between this year 1996-1999) I am not sure what year is that I met this man in their Bourse table that they do not certified error coin which is mean to me on that time they do not have any qualified error specialist to grade the coin. That's all. Maybe this Two leading grading company PCGS/NGC they have a record on what year the first double denomination slabbed on their holder. COIN FACT ENCLOPEDIA/PCGS: DOUBLE DENOMINATION ERRORS One of the most expensive, popular, and desired types of errors are the double denominations. This error happens when a coin is struck on a previously struck coin of another denomination. Examples are a cent on a struck dime, and a nickel on a struck cent. The most dramatic are those with considerable design visible from the original strike.
what would you value $$$ this coin at ? I would guess not to many doble denominations coins out there ? go off the last 1 sold ???
well I just now looked up double denomination on Ebay. 6 items. top 2 are 1 in ANACS slab $1,650.00, and the top 1 in a NGC slab $1,935.00 personally i thinks yours look better than both of these making it worth $2,000+ ???
it will be depends on the seller/buyer to negotiate the value of each coin collection. Just remember in every lower court there is a Supreme Court in every 1893 s Morgan Silver Dollar there's an Eliasberg Pedigree in every LIBERTY V Nickel there is 5 Known 1913 Nickel in every college students there's a SUMMA CUM LAUDE. In every Double Eagle 20$ Gold Coin there's a 1933 although there's still lot out there in a Private hand as maybe more...In every Double Denomination (11c) there's ONLY ONE existed in ACCUGRADE Holder with Two Full dates 1995 a key date, TWO LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, P Mintmark, VDB, Skull break and a Crack Die Variety on Reverse, ONE CENT,ONE DIME,UNITED STATE of AMERICA, E PLU- FG Initial, Lincoln memorial Building split in half a Crack die variety, My Priceless Favorite Coin of all times the ONE & ONLY with NO DUPLICATE! Oh Before I forget the two images of two great leaders voted by Presidential Historian Society year 2000 , Abraham Lincoln(Penny/cent) and Frank Delano Roosevelt (10c/dime) accidentally minted in US Mint. Lincolvelt same side of a coin as OBVERSE. That's all.
