How about some 1500 year old gold? It's not my definitive #1 but its among my top 3 (equally) favorite coins in my collection: Byzantine (Eastern Roman) Empire - Anastasius I, Tremissis (491-518 AD), 1.5 grams, 16 mm wide, Constantinople mint
Do you like my new "favs" The Italy 500 Lire from the 20th Century is a long-time favorite coin of mine. Here are a couple of my new favorites: (Thessaly Stater from 196-146 B.C.) (Rhodes Drachm from 188-170 B.C.) The Thessali coin depicts the laureate head of Zeus on the obverse. Of course Zeus is the king of gods. The Rhodes coin has the Sun God Helios including radiant Sun rays on the obverse.
First Meris Tetradrachm Probably my favorite...I have several favorites but I think this is the most "generally" breathtaking The toning the age and the supreme chunk appeal to most everyone. :hail: I included a couple photos at different angles... The coin is oober 3d and there is nothing "propping" the coin up, its Artemis' face. Oh and check out my video of it :dead-horse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqWRFjZIhFI Macedonia, First Meris, Amphipolis Mint 167 - 149 BC. AR Tetradrachm, 16.59 g x 32 mm Obv: Diademed and draped bust of Artemis right, bow and quiver over shoulder, in the center of a Macedonian shield, Rev: MAKEΔONΩN ΠPΩTHΣ, horizontal club, monograms above and below, all within oak wreath, ref: SNG COP 1313
I think you are WRONG! From 1996 to the end of 1999 in Baltimore, Maryland every coin show I carry this error 11c and talk to every TPG to grade it and slab it but due of some are lack of Knowledge in double denomination coin error they are all FAILED to convince me of the SAFETY of the coin too. NGC bourse table with a good looking man with a PONY TAIL Hair told me at this time we are NOT certifying error coins in 2000 of March, Mr Alan Hager of Accugrade the Inventor of slabbing coins/cards and Professional experts certified it and explain it well to me WHY he did not assigned a NUMERICAL as MS ##. Because this is a a MAJOR DRAMATIC ERROR a UNIQUE One, much the BEST in all Doubled Denomination. That show is a LARGE CROWD so many witnessis when he slabbed it.. This was explain very well on my eBay when I put this on acution item 120839062433 That's all.. for your additional knowledge Accugrade start slabbing coin on 1984 followed by PCGS 1986 after the owner paid Mr. Alan hager of 100K for his expertise and his PATENT then on 1987 NGC start slabbing coin too. Thank you for your comment.
