Faustina Senior received the title of Augusta not long after Antoninus Pius' accession, probably early in AD 139, but died only two years later. Her lifetime coinage is, therefore, quite scarce in comparison with the enormous posthumous issues made by her grieving husband over the subsequent two decades.
