Great coinsRandy. Congrats! Here a FH from my portrats collection: backside: The mintmark is RST* or RSr*, the tekst is there, but there is corrodation. In hand i can see it much better. The weight is 5.52 grams, diameter = 24 mm. greetings, sky92880
Nice Constans, not to easy to find. It's Thessalonica, it's hard to see but I think the mint mark is TS Gamma Star (theres only 5 choices for officina: A, B, Delta, Gamma, and Epsilon). Neat coin and welcome to CT
My copy of Failmezger arrived today and I must say these are among the most beautiful plates I've see in a book. Kudos to our @dougsmit !
Anyone who has the book and likes the photos, please write me a private Conversation rather than posting it. This shows the rig used way back then.
Hello e-one! Randy, I just finished cleaning this coin and it looks a lot like yours, I think, although markings are different:
Nice, it does look like Heraclea. I'm on my phone now so can make out all at the moment but maybe smh delta
Here's one I found that's not half bad. It came in the first uncleaned lot I ever got. I cleaned it a bit but the red sandy patina on it started to turn more white so I let it be. It could definitely use more cleaning around the letters though but meh. I have it as Julian II from Arles, what do you guys think??
Still a decent coin. The difference between 273 and 274 is the obv. legend break, 273 DN IVLIAN-VS NOB CAES 274 DN IVLIANV-S NOB CAES.
I did have it down as 274 and it does look like the legend breaks off after the N. I gave it a bit more of a cleaning but now it seems harder to see haha. I really need to get more reference books seeing as how 273 wasn't on wildwinds. Thanks again man.
