Absolutely! This was a great collection that had over 100 1940's, 200 1950's and the rest were silver age comics from the 60's. I've been collecting comics (and now sell them) since I was 12 (I'm 61 this year). This was a case of a mother, who's son had been killed in an auto accident who simply wanted them gone as they just reminded her of him. I asked her if she had priced any of them and she said no and that she had no interest in doing so, so I did offer her the opportunity. Most were bagged and boarded and the oldest ones were in no less than fine condition. This does not happen too often. I was also able to buy a box of about 800 postcards at a tag sale for $75.00 about three years ago. Most were very nice and over half were RPPC's from the early 1900's. One was a photo of Larry Gardner from the Boston American Team holding the silver cup win trophy and was signed. That one alone netted me $300. There are good/great things to be found still.

Well, when he supposedly gets off work he is supposed to send photos to me via text message of obverse and reverse, also told him to take as good of picture as he can of the mint mark on the morgan. We will see if he even bothers and we will see if the quality of the photos are atleast semi decent! I am with everyone here by calling this a pile of counterfeit. I kept looking at the fugio cent and it just does not look proper. It looks new.

If I get the photos, I shall update!

Just tell him you want to meet at the local coin dealer for the transaction, so everybody concerned can be sure they're authentic before you spend your hard-earned money. :)

The 1 in the date isnt aligned correctly, the "S" mintmark is in my opinion too big. He also posted these for sale in my area, although texted from a Texas area code. I called him on the counterfeits and he immediately says his father has pcgs slabbed examples as well and he would have yo contact him to see which ones he would like to sell.......bologna, but I told him to keep my number and send me pics of the slabbed ones

1893-S used only one obverse die, and the date location on this coin does not match that die. That's conclusive, if you really feel like mentioning it to the guy. :)

Even for grins, I wouldn't meet this guy anywhere. There is no telling who is behind this attempted fraud. $500 would make it a felony in my state.

Yes, it is, and shows the same obv design (for the lack of a better term) "quirkiness" that seems common on certain low-end overseas fakes. With that said though, it's interesting that the second 7 does look to be slightly lower than the first. Meaningless, of course, considering the rev is wrong as well as the aforementioned design issues, but interesting nonetheless.

The real screaming identification point on the indian is that it uses a hub of 1886 obv. A hub of 1886 on a coin of 1877?

Has a bold N reverse as well. So obv and reverse die designs are wrong.

If that Fugio is real, someone needs to tell it that it's hanging out with the wrong crowd.

I would go check them out....bring cash and a loupe. Hide the cash though.....if the 1802 is a,fake....offer 300 for the remainder....

Who knows you may get a big score

In the grand scheme of things, this is a nickel and dime con scheme. But that isn't the point. You don't know who or what you are dealing with.

The term "a record dragging the ground behind him" comes to mind....

    Who knows? We knows....

More than enough information has been provided in this very thread to know, as absolute fact, that the "Morgan" and "IHC" are, with absolute certanty, fakes, yet you suggest he offer $300 for them? I mean no offense, sir, but suggestions like yours are dangerous; anyone taking your advice would have just lost $300. Also, and with all due respect, from what we've seen here, I would suggest you rethink any potential purchases from unknown sources, lest you end up in the same boat you would have had the OP sinking in.
