[QUOTE="Pilkenton, post: 1668865, member: 23961"]I have a trade dollar from my mom. I never really looked at it, but seeing that my mom had it for years, I assumed it was real. The other day I decided to sell it. I put a magnet to it and it didn't stick. The coin has always been in a flip. On the way to the coin shop, I started looking at the dollar. I started having my doubts. It was in too good of shape. I turned it over. CC. Yep. It's a fake. I took it to the shop anyway. Before I showed him the coin, I gave him my reason's why I thought it was fake. He said I was probably right, but you never know. He took the coin, reached into the flip with his fingers, put it in the palm of his hand, looked at it with a loupe, and agreed it was a fake. I asked him how you can tell the difference between a real trade dollar and a fake one. All he said was that he just knew. He wouldn't go into details. He just knew. He then held the coin up and said legally he could confiscate the coin, call the cops, and have me arrested for trying to sell him counterfeit money.

I'll be 55 years old in May. I've dealt with this guy for years, spending thousands of dollars. I blew up and let him have it. Both barrels. I'm not a child. I came here trying to learn something from him, and he threatens to have me arrested for no reason. He got all flustered and turned red. Then he tossed the coin onto the counter without the flip and marched off into the back room. One of the regulars there looked at me and shrugged.
