Help me out here. I ran across this note on BK Auction and because the banner didn't look right, I checked the cert #80786792 with PCGS and it comes back as PCGS # 417347 Chinese 100 yn.
I don't see anything to suggest the serial numbers on the note have been altered, but why would someone try to pass it as a certified by PCGS note?
    I'm confused.

Looks legit to me. Try entering the cert number again, or don’t worry about it. The note is from a well documented run of mismatched $1 SCs. Here’s my example.

Thanks Steve. I did run the number, several times, and in fact I ran other PCGS numbers and they didn't match either, so something isn't right.

It is the old PCGS run by Jason Bradford. I don't think you can use the current PCGS site to look it up.

You need to look it up on the Legacy grading website. It comes up good.

    Interesting about the G5544/G5444..

I don't know enough to say whether or not it's a legit note, but if someone in this town tried to spend that they'd be having a chat with the fuzz. ;)
