The one LCS that I have sold to in the past pays spot for mint uncirculated ASEs. ASEs with any damage from handling or rubbing together will not bring spot. You might be costing yourself money in the long run. I keep some junk Morgans and Franklins around when I feel the need to play with coins like they are poker chips. They were already bought for melt and the little bit of handling won't further decrease value.
Mint tubes, flips, airtites, how ever I bought them is how I keep them. I have some that have been in flips since 1986 - they still look new.
You can buy direct fit H40 air tites i buy them from vernon in ebay 10 for $6.65. http://stores.ebay.com/Vernon-Coin-Center/_i.html?_nkw=airtite+DIRECT+H40&_sid=83393939
There are all kind of "damaged" ASE's being sold online above spot. Your statement reminds me of the "We buy broken gold" ads. Like the gold is worthless or worth less because it's broken, lol...
In secondary markets like the bay it is harder to sell damaged ASE's they loss the small premium over spot (so after ebay fees they end up selling less than spot) and worse you will get people returning them and all that hassle that goes with it.
