The pathetic thing about auctions like that is that the question has to be even asked 'is it fake'. So sad people can't be trusted anymore even more so these days. And it's becoming, or has already become, a massive problem. Then it just tarnishes (pun intended), the good ones....

The casting remnants that flow from the lettering to the rim on the reverse is the give away. Absolutely a cast fake.

I thought it looked like an almost decent cast

For a coin to show that small amount of wear, almost be full bands and be less than an AG-3 in cost causes concern for me. And then it's not certified? The Red flags are flying.

She states in the listing that she doesn't know if it is genuine or fake. 100% cast phony.

It's out of focus just enough to hide some of the problems for those who don't really know what to spot. This is one of the ways that crooks market their junk. When you see bad photos to support an offering, just run away. Don't think about getting invovled.

Nice way to sidestep responsibility. A coin such as this should have at the very least been taken to a dealer for a look over. Other people get burned, then try to re-sell to re-coup their losses by using a shady disclaimer.

Used to be a standard to live by in a bygone era it seems.
