Faint letters on coin?

    What causes letters in the middle of other letters to be faint?

    Grease filled die, just as your pic is labelled. Grease, dirt, metal dust and all other kinds of things build up an clog the low points of a die causing the coin metal to be unable to rise up and fill those voids.

    Thank you for your response. I thought so but was not sure? Is there any value to this type error?
