It could represent incipient development of a retained interior die break. In other words, a zone of collapsing metal that is cracking around its periphery.
I'm not joking. Long time to go Rockdude found this in my 1976 Lincoln cent. Now, This other little king. It's not the same one? Please open a little more your eyes. Right in the Xtra Material stamped are more old symbols in the left side. Please open your eyes.
Mr Lincolnhoardr, You have a interesting Reverse also from the use of a very, very old die. If you see the area I marked you'll find very old symbols in those areas. The D of United look like doubled. But is not; there's a symbol close to NEW HEAVEN RESTRIKE, wich make that appearence. Make very good close-up and you'll understand what I'm talking about. Good luck.
I think in the Post-Colony period they convert a lot of Colony-coins into planchets to be use later in the new coinage. O may-be simply they destroy the Colony-coins using Dies in that process. Something happen, because it's no the first time I found those symbols wich really they are from Colony coins. Some time because the resolution of the monitors o the time each person spend in each coin. The funny thing is that. They said. "There's something but I don't know what is"
Carlos please watch this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkHFNnOK3Bg I think you're under the impression that coins are still made by a blacksmith, one at a time. It' isn't that way anymore. What you suggest cannot happen and hasn't happened for generations.
Ice. In reality you don't see anything there? if you said NOP, I believe you, because in the Bible said. Many will have Eyes but will not see. Remember this is not the only one with this symbols.
